How hypnosis helps in everyday life
I LOVE HOW HYPNOSIS CAN HELP IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE IN SO MANY WAYS!
I have been through a few minor medical procedures lately, which would have caused me some degree of anxiety only a few months ago.
Having been soul-searching for over a decade and a hypnotist for over a year, I have many anti-anxiety tools in my toolbox, and I find that self-hypnosis is the most all-encompassing one. Using the power of self-hypnosis, I found myself very calm and at peace when I got the news that I had to undergo these procedures, and while waiting for "the day" to arrive. I felt deep inside that there was no use to worry before knowing the outcome and the tests' results. And I approached the procedure days feeling calm and confident that everything would be okay.
During the procedures, while the well-meaning health professionals were telling me how I was going to feel some pain, or stinging sensations, I was lovingly repeating to myself how there was going to be no pain at all, and that my body was going to feel so good and relaxed. And my body heard what I was telling it, and it felt no pain and the calm and relaxing feeling stayed with me through the end of the procedures.
Yesterday, during one of those minor procedures, without anesthesia, everything was going well - I was calm and relaxed, focusing on my “happy place” and being there with all my senses. I was in a general positive state, feeling confident and strong, so I decided to look at the screen to see what the medical staff was doing...BIG MISTAKE! As soon as I saw it, I felt a sharp pain in the spot they were operating on! Very rapidly, my attention went back to my happy place, and the pain disappeared instantly. A few deep breaths stabilized the calm and relaxed state throughout the procedure. Lesson learnt: always stay in your happy place and refuse to give your attention to anything else!
