Evidence Based Techniques

EFT

What is EFT? EFT is an energy healing technique, which can be described as acupuncture without needles. It is based on the same assumption as acupuncture, that whenever we get upset, feel anxious, are in pain, or don’t feel well in general, there are energy blocks within our body. In EFT we liberate the stuck energy by tapping with our fingertips on acupressure points, thus re-establishing the energy flow in our body (without the needles!).

What happens in the brain during EFT and how does EFT work? EFT starts by bringing to mind a stressful situation that triggers the stress response. Stimulating selected acupressure points, sends deactivating signals to the amygdala, the stress center of the brain. Repetition of tapping the acupressure points reduces the stress response while the trigger is still mentally active. The brain then records that the memory or trigger is being safely engaged without a stress response, thereby altering the reaction to the stimulus. The stress response loop is then neutralized and while still remembering the thought or situation that used to cause stress, it is now perceived as a simple fact, free of any emotional charge.

Havening Techniques®

What are the Havening Techniques? The Havening Techniques® are healing modalities designed to help individuals overcome problems that are the consequence of traumatic or stressful encoding. They belong to a larger group of methods called psychosensory therapies, which use sensory input to alter thought, mood and behavior. These techniques use touch as a therapeutic tool called Havening Touch®. This touch generates delta waves in the brain leading to depotentiation of a stressing or traumatic memory. Havening uses touch, attention and imagination to trigger electrochemical changes in the brain that alter how memories are processed. The results of this simple procedure are reduced stress, increased feeling of safety, higher levels of achievement, and emotional, psychological, and physical healing.

Hypnosis

What is hypnosis? According to the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists, hypnosis is a state of relaxed focus, described as the feeling of living in the moment without feeling self-conscious about your behaviour. Hypnosis is very often compared to daydreaming , or the feeling of losing yourself in a book or movie. You are fully conscious, but you tune out most of the stimuli around you. You focus intently on the subject at hand, to the near exclusion of any other thought. In fact, one can think of hypnotic trance as of that moment when internal focus carries more meaning than external reality.

How does hypnosis work? Hypnosis works by accessing directly the subconscious mind (SC), where your beliefs, behaviours, habits, memories and emotions reside. Most of the information stored in the SC mind has been dictated by our parents, teachers, society and by our life experiences, and very often it is not in line with our true self. During a hypnosis session, we are able to recognize and erase the programs and beliefs that don’t serve us anymore, and intentionally replace them with thoughts and beliefs that serve our life and our purpose.
