Children and teens

I offer one-on-one or group sessions to help children and teens release the stress associated to school work or other activities that generate distress in their lives. We use fun and dynamic techniques including breath work, mindfulness, EFT, and Havening. Contact me for more information.

In spite of their young age, children and teens experience many emotional issues and difficult experiences as adults, but they generally lack the emotional intelligence to know how to deal with them. As children grow up, some difficult behaviors or belief systems can affect them later in life. Low self-esteem and lack of confidence often start in childhood.

Hypnosis - In general, young children are naturally good hypnotic subjects as they live in a trance-like state most of the day. There are three ways we can work with children in hypnosis: supporting the child to develop self-confidence; to alleviate certain symptoms, remove habits or fears; and, mostly with older kids and teens, to revisit and change the meaning of past events that may trigger unwanted struggles in their life.

EFT and Havening - Just like with adults, tapping and Havening can be taught to children and teens for things such as: stress, pain, fear/worry, bullying, resilience, school performance, self-esteem and more. Young ones don’t usually have many layers to their issues and respond very quickly to both techniques.

Anxiety in children and teens and how we can help - Anxiety has spiked among our youth in the last two decades, even more after the 2020 lockdown. More and more children and teenagers are diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. While it is often difficult to know when a child suffers from anxiety, a few signs and behaviours can point us in the right direction. Significant levels of anxiety in children and youth often lead to disruption of previous behaviours: anxious children tend to miss more days at school than their less anxious peers, they may withdraw from activities like social or sport groups they used to enjoy, and they may complain for lack of sleep, frequent headaches, tummy aches or other physical symptoms.  In school, such children may experience a decrease of learning ability and, as a consequence, lower grades in spite of the hours they spend studying and doing homework. This can add frustration to the existing anxiety, and the mix of these emotions will not help the child or teen to feel better and do better in school.

This is when hypnosis, EFT and Havening can help: these simple techniques help them calm down and come back to the present moment, thus being able to access those parts of the brain where all the concepts they have studied and learnt are stored.
